About Me

Welcome to my website! Ever since I can remember, music has been a part of my life. Since early adulthood, I have been playing, singing and studying, usually as I did something else to earn a living. I am now priveleged to have the time to return to music teaching. Please read on to learn a bit more about me, and what I can offer you to help me share this love of music!

I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in Metallurgical Engineering, after which I worked in industry for a few years. I then returned to university where I earned a Bachelor of Education in Physics and Mathematics. Since that time I have acquired more than 25 years’ experience teaching physics, science and mathematics to high school students in both the public and private systems. I taught physics and general science at Branksome Hall for eight years.

After a short exposure to piano lessons as a young adolescent, I resumed study of the piano in my 20’s, eventually earning my teaching qualifications through the Royal Conservatory of Music. I have had several excellent teachers through the Conservatory. I have been studying cello and playing in community orchestras since my mid 30’s. I am continuing to work towards the completion of my teaching qualifications in cello with a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

I am married to Patricia Dales, who is a technical writer and an avid gardener. We live in Riverdale in a refurbished old corner store with our three cats, Kuching, Cinnamon and Jasmine.

I offer lessons in piano and cello; in addition, I will work with students who are studying rudiments. In addition, I offer tutorials in science, physics and mathematics.
